Washington State Dept. of Health
Project: Core Nutrition for Infants
For this project, the Washington State Dept. of Health (WA DOH) created a brochure for parents about the core nutrition that is essential for infants and children ages one through four. The WA DOH released five brochures in seven languages regarding nutrition tips and ideas for babies nine months and older and children up to four years old. The text in the brochures reflected the child’s point of view regarding what they can eat, how much they can eat, tips to stay active, and more.
NWI Global linguists translated the brochures into Arabic, Burmese, Chinese, Korean, Russian, Somali, and Vietnamese. As some of these languages tend to expand during translation, the desktop publishing process (DTP) turned out to be quite challenging when trying to format the translated text while trying to match the English layout.
The language of the original English source in these core nutrition brochures was an enjoyable and gratifying experience for our linguists as well as our DTP team. NWI Global’s high quality standards for translation and formatting assured that WA DOH’s translations were the best quality for their target demographics.
