Project: Washington Drive Guide
The Washington State Dept. of Licensing (WA DOL) released a new driver guide as an update to their previous guidebook. Needing translation services to cater to the State’s demographic, NWI Global worked with WA DOL to recreate the driver guide in six of the state’s most spoken foreign languages: Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Russian, Spanish, and Vietnamese.
The process for this project began with our translators, who kept the integrity of the English driver guide’s terminology while translating. After the translations were completed, our in-house desktop publishing (DTP) team worked to match the layouts of the translated guidebooks in comparison to the English guidebook. Once the translations had been implemented into the guidebook during the DTP process, they were passed onto a third-party linguist for an additional proofreading process and quality analysis.
The driver guide included a table of contents, general driver’s education material, a variety of street signs and signals, and more. NWI Global’s high quality standards for translation and formatting ensured that the translations met and exceeded the WA DOL’s expectations.
