Our Story

NWI Global began in the Pacific Northwest in 1992 as Northwest Interpreters. Our founder, Elena Lawler, recognized a need to help people in local communities communicate in medical and social-service settings.

As clients’ needs grew, our services expanded beyond in-person interpreting to include translation, localization, sign language interpreting, multimedia, and accessibility support.

In 2014, we adopted the NWI Global name to reflect our broader services and reach. Today, that original purpose continues to guide our work — helping organizations and the people they serve understand one another.
